Re: ...and this
Maybe its me...but there is something a little bit....weird about sites and pictures like these that are beyond my comprehension.

I think it is a little 'odd' that people can get satisfaction and pleasure from drawing/painting, whatever, pictures of people with; one eye and blood! Of babies apparently growing out of a man's body! Of women in all manner of steel restraints and bandages! Of men with knives Etc. These 'artists' obviously have a real talent so why not use it for a more pleasing-to-the-eye affect rather than shock-horror?

I'm afraid I am not one who subscribes to the belief that if you call it 'Art' you can depict any sort of atrocity that you feel will get people talking about you!!

Your grumblingly!

Re: ...and this
yes mark, i get your point but in an attempt to wrap it up in someone elses words
"the public deserves to be violated in various positions" francis picabia.

and as an addition i am surprised that with all that need for cosyness the production of madly cynical manipulations on up to date news is somehow neglected.

suggestions:

- show poor islanders (pensioners, unemployed...) burning cheaply bought encyclopaedias as substitute for coal.
- have some fictional citizen hanged in front of his house for scraping off the snow on his pavement.
- come up with a fitting idea for an `alla´-stair campbell frame.
- stick some VEB signs up on your favourite supermarkets. maybe with a sign "register today for your ration of vegetables"
- or, hey, concerning your men with knifes critique. ask some east-enders for ideas.

if out of ideas steve bell or martin rowson(the guardian) i am sure could be contacted.

i could carry on for pages and wouldn´t have had time including any continental `mishaps´or idiocies.
imagination is the only uncontrolled (surveilled) resort.

Re: ...and this
Thanks for sharing the link Redsnapper.

Mark,

Not defending anything, just a small observation.

I view such in a non-literal sense, but understand your point. Personal taste.

IMHO not all art is or should be beautiful. Its a very powerful medium. It can raise some disturbing questions/issues on real life. On the dark side for example take Goya's "Shootings on Third of May", 1808. http://www.goyatobeijing.org/gallery/goya.html

We have a choice. For me very interesting to see what others are doing, especially when outside my normal tracks, comfort area or horizon. Creative. No obligation to emulate, and can ignore.

Oh and BTW Redsnapper, includes my appreciation of Picabia

Trevor
