Typography
I just read a book Just My Type by Simon Garfield. I can recommend it to everyone who is interesting in fonts. I also just found out this links about typefaces used in films: http://www.ms-studio.com/typecasting.html (Just be sure what kind of typeface or font you want to use for your photomontage work because it can reveal the fact that it is photomontage.) _________________ The most beatiful thing we can experience is mysterious. Re: Typography
Very interesting, Emil. I've also read Simon Garfield's book, and can also thoroughly recommend it - a very entertaining and informative read. I've been writing a lot for MacUser magazine about typography lately. Maybe I should republish some of those pieces here! |

Re: Typography
Thanks for the recommendation, Emil and Steve. I have been interested in fonts since the early days of the Acorn Archimedes (or was it the BBC Micro?) when proportional fonts first appeared and we had a choice. I have several books that I bought some years ago. Of these my favourtie was 'The Non-Desogners Design Book' by Robin Williams. It covered 'design and typographical principles' and is a pleasant easy read with a lot of good information. As I think an update is in order I have just ordered Simon Garfield's book. I am looking forward to reading it. Thanks again. _________________ Man cannot change the direction of the wind but he can adjust the sails |
