Photoshop Touch ipad 2 app
Just downloading the new ipad app, I'm not expecting magic but apparently it's a lot better than previous PS apps ..

ah very good!. I'm quite surprised how much they included in the app. I like the way they've included tutorials. I Have only tried it briefly, and not with a stylus yet. But for on the fly photo editing or doodling it's pretty good.
I couldn't find any way to remote connect it to CS5 though (like Adobe Nav) But With the ipad 3 on it's way with it's higher resolution I think we're going to see some pretty nice things from Adobe this year!

Re: Photoshop Touch ipad 2 app
I played with it at length yesterday, and it really is excellent. So many tools from the real Photoshop have made it in there - Refine Edge, Extract, Levels, Curves, and much more. All modified, of course, and the whole thing has a very slick feel.

Only real downside is it's limited to 1600x1600 pixels.

For 6.99 ($9.99) it's a real bargain.

Maybe some of us could try a Friday challenge just using the iPad, now that would be a challenge!

Re: Photoshop Touch ipad 2 app
I've just been trying with a stylus for the past hour. Found the dodge and burn option, and I like the fact you can google search images directly from the app. But now my neck hurts after leaning over the iPad!
I would definitely recommend this, the £6.99 price tag is nothing, although i would recommend getting a good stylus and cleaning the screen (I spent a minute trying to erase a section untill I realised it was just a mark on the screen!) .. And if anyone knows if the apple keyboard works with this?, if not then it should, keyboard shortcuts would be helpful.

I think Adobe has deliberately avoided keyboard interaction here. Everything is designed to be accomplished with finger movements.

Are you sure you need the stylus? There's a clever mode whereby the cursor is offset from the touch position, so you can see what you're doing more clearly.

I agree, it's a real bargain.

How do I offset the touch position? I found the stylus helpful when trying to cut out fiddly edges, but you are right everything can be done with finger movements.

I watched an interesting programme about David Hockney the other day, he talks about using the ipad to paint. I'm not sure which app he was using but it's inspired me to have a dabble! (even though I'm a terrible drawer/painter!)

The cursor offset is at the bottom of the Edit menu (second from left, as I remember). Good for fiddly edges!

Was just going to say the same myself Vern.

Though I can see it now, few solar flares, increased solar and magnetic radiation and all I pad 2's and the latest ones will all be rendered useless and the original iPad will become the sort after item....

Well I'm probably just deluding myself really ar't I

Re: Photoshop Touch ipad 2 app
I also only have an iPad 1. I had to borrow an iPad 2 from a friend to review this! I am going to have to upgrade, though, too much good stuff is passing me by.
