Firefox!
www.getfirefox.com

I can't believe nobody thought to add this! Best. Browser. Ever. 10 times better than that pitiful-excuse-for-a-piece-of-software that is Internet Explorer.

Check out https://addons.mozilla.org/ for more extensions, themes and plugins.

Re: Firefox!
I thought everyone who knows anything about computers already has it.

Re: Firefox!
Yep, hence what I said. Couldn't hurt to make sure though.

Re: Firefox!
I can't get it, I have an Apple and it runs the old "classic" OS 9. My friends use OS X, but they like Apple's Safari.

What's the difference between Firefox and Safari? Is one easier to use than the other?

I use Safari, it does its job. Firefox has some nice addons, especially the Sage RSS reader and BBCode insertion but I kept getting major lockups when I tried to view QT7 movies.

Re: Firefox!
Safari is a good Mac only alternative browser, if you only have OS 9. It runs a lot like Firefox and retains most of the important features such as tabbed browsing, built in google search and pop-up blocker, and uses less memory to boot. I prefer Firefox though; the ability to download user made extensions is simply indispensible to me.

You might also want to try Camino, which is also made by Mozilla (the makers of Firefox): http://www.caminobrowser.org/

I feel like a dinosaur running OS 9. Safari, Firefox and Camino only run on OS X.

I don't know if I should get a G5 or wait until Apple releases the newer models with the Intel chips next year. I'd hate to buy a new system and software, only do it again in 4 years.

Lol, I forgot most of this forum is Mac users. Yeah, I have a PC because I am a gamer, and I do alot of other stuff that can only be done on PC. I heard Safari is good though.

I might use get Opera soon though, since more and more spyware and viruses are being built for Firefox as well as internet explorer lately, since Firefox has become so popular.

Re: Firefox!
I tried out camino on the family computer but I realy didn't find it anything special. On a mac it's really a matter of personal preference whether to use firefox or safari, but I think its better to have both either way.

My favorite extension is this really cool thing called "All-in-One Gestures". You can customize it in every way, and it saves lots of time.

For instance to open a new tab I hold right click and move my mouse right and then down. I have a shortcut for almost every thing I do, and it is very good at figuring out which way you are moving the mouse (you can move it at angles).

In case you are wondering, I am at camp right now, I just found out today that they have computers with internet. Unfortunately I am not allowed to install programs so I can't use photoshop.
