Photos of Chernobyl

Some pictures of Cherynobyl now. It's basically a ghost town. Ghost towns give such a strange sort of sadness to anyone who sees one - part nostalgia (even if you weren't ever there at all) and partly loss of life - even if no one died, lives were lost all the same. It's weird to think about...

Brilliant photography in my opinion. Hope you like them. For more info on the Chernobyl disaster, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_accident

Sad photos indeed - but incredibly powerful

The eerie sense of death and disaster is palpable - gave me a shudder

The paint flaking off the rotten walls in so many of the photos could be seen as a metaphor for the cancerous cells of the victims - and the one with the swans is quite poetic.

Thanks for the link, Dez.

btw, surely thats not a human cadaver in that classroom ?

Re: Photos of Chernobyl
I suspect that's a classroom biology model Paul not a real person. Not that many people died there the sense of death really is the death of a town abandoned and made unlivable by radiation the fact that birds don't inhabit the place anymore makes it all the more eerie a place without birdsong in a morning is almost unthinkable.
