Web based Image Editor
I did a forum search and could not find this topic so hope that it has not been posted before .... apologies if it has.

For all of those times when you need to do some image manipulation, create a graphic or just get your photoshop type fix and you are away from your trusty PC/Mac which has PS installed on it ... there is a web solution out there.

I found this free web based image editor called Pixlr at http://www.pixlr.com/editor/

It has similar functionality to PS (layers, brushes, opacity settings, blend modes, clone stamp, transform etc.) and even shares many keyboard shortcuts.

I use it at work where I do not have PS and have been quite amazed at what can be achieved in a Flash environment window.

You can upload and download images to it from your PC/Mac and if you register then you can use their online library. It doesn't support .PSD files but it does support .jpg, .png, .bmp and its own .pxd proprietary layed file format.

I recently wrote to them telling them how impressed I was with the package and (tongue in cheek) suggested that for their next upgrade they incorporate content aware fill ... they were amused but thought fulfilling this request may be someway off in the future.

Cheers
Vern

Yes, Pixlr is excellent. I cover it in my latest book, Fun and Games for the 21st Century Family. As you say, an ideal replacement when Photoshop isn't available.

I seem to remember that Abode had something similar, I'll see if I can find it.

Yes it is, seems it's a couple of years since I last looked at the site.
