Please Santa..
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/14/wacom-cintiq-24hd-touch-review/ The new Cintiq 24 inch Touch tablet upgraded for 2012, possibly the best bit of kit for artists? Although At just under £3000, I think even Mr Caplin would struggle to justify that price tag.. But it does look very nice! ![]() If anybody is lucky enough (Steve) to try one out then it would be good to read your comments. _________________ "If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure" |

Yes, I have tried one, and it's very good: intelligent design of the mechanism so it's easy to adjust the angle and height of the monitor using the paddles, lovely to draw on, very responsive. But... (and there's always a but) I have the same problems with it that I've been having with the Cintiq since it launched: 1. Clumsy access to modifier keys. When you're working in Photoshop you need to hold shift, alt, ctrl etc frequently. There are user-customisable buttons on either side of the Cintiq, but they're (a) hard to press, and (b) mounted on the top, not the bottom. This means it's virtually impossible to hold down more than one at a time. If they were underneath your could rest your left hand (assuming you're right handed) on the monitor edge and use your four fingers beneath to press the buttons; on the top it's a contortion to get your fingers in the right location. 2. You can't reach the keyboard. I use keyboard shortcuts for just about everything in Photoshop - switching tools, invoking menu options, changing layer modes, moving layers up and down, turning transparency on and off, changing brush size, etc. The Cintiq takes up so much space it's hard to place a physical keyboard within reach. After years (literally) of me nagging them they've finally incorporated a virtual keyboard, but it breaks the flow to invoke it. 2. Your hand gets in the way. I know this one is really unsolvable, but I find that when I'm drawing on the screen my hand obscures the image. Yes, I know, this is a problem that every artist from Leonardo to Picasso has coped with, but I'm used to seeing my screen without impediments. Plus, of course, it's damn pricey! |

I'll save my pocket money then for something better. Bert Monroy loves 'em though. _________________ "Why so serious?" |
