Another Truly Astonishing Photographer/Photoshopper
Eric Johansson's work is much more complex than that of Guiseppe Coloruso who I featured in my previous post.

His imagination is just as vivid but his technique is truly astonishing!

If you follow the link to Portfolio and the click on the third image in the top row 'Landfall' you will find below the image a video showing it's creation. He goes to the most extraordinary lengths. His technique for creating the turbulent water texture for the flowing waterfall of green fields is really remarkable.

This is a combination of imagination, photography and Photoshop at a supreme level!

Eric Johansson

I am quite simply lost in admiration!!

I have long been an admirer of his work, even more so now after watchings how much work goes into his creations. Totally blown away.

He's one of my heroes as I do exactly the same kind of illusion work myself. But as long as I live I will never be in his class .... !!

I've seen this guy's work before and always admired it. I watched the video as you suggested; my efforts on the Friday Challenge look puny in comparison. His work is more like a July Challenge!

I think I need to step up a gear!

Re: Another Truly Astonishing Photographer/Photoshopper
A few of his images have accompanying 'behind the scenes' videos and they are very well worth watching for the insight they give to the techniques. As Erik himself says in one of the videos, the pressing of the camera shutter is the end of the photography but only the beginning of the image creation process.

Re: Another Truly Astonishing Photographer/Photoshopper
Exactly. For my own illusions I take anything from fifty to several hundred photos for an image, some of which are very carefully planned and positioned. The photos are just the raw material.
