Re: Test yourself
Thanks for all these entries, James - some very imaginative work there.

In order:

1. Snakes and ladders. Great scene, with good extra elements. Good choice of background. But this one really needs some shadows to ground those extra objects!

2. Syrup. Very pretty! I like the rippling effect, and the dead wasps are a very neat touch. The yellow in the syrup is a bit harsh, though - and we should be able to see the highlights in the fronts side of the jar, especially on the screw top.

3, 4. Nice mirror and library: nice work!

5, 6. Abbey and pub. Watch those head heights! In the Abbey picture in particular. Go and read the Perspective chapter again, especially the section about horizon lines and vanishing points. Seriously, this is a key concept that you need to get buckeld down. Oh, and watch that the shadows of people's feet do meet their feet!

7. Salute. Very good. Like the extra shadow, it adds a new dimension to the piece. Nice touch.

8. Fruit bowl. Foreground bowl works well, but the repeat rather destroys the sense of perspective. I'd lose that one, and maybe add some wallpaper to the background?

Glad you're having fun with these!

Steve

James,

This is a classic example of the horizon line point i made on page 111! A load of heads, all at different heights! Seriously, take a look at that page again - this one can easily be fixed.

Steve,

Your observation has been acted upon, and the image modified (that does'nt mean I have it right) I just hope I have. Would like to replace the existing image, but my efforts to do so are unsucessful, Sorry.

This editing isn;t working every time.
