#3- I hope scaling the fireworks down and scaling the landscape up is not considered "cheating" but the best I could do with this one ![]() _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

#8- Sand blasting. I moved things around a bit. I hope you don't think of this as "cheating". Ohh, by the way, Isn't that the Name of the book Mr. Caplin? lol ![]() ![]() _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

#9- A room with a view. I had to go looking for a picture of the interior of a room for a reflection. I didn't realize I don't take many pictures of empty rooms. LOL!! I got lucky and found one (only one). ![]() ![]() _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

Re: Test Yourself 1
#7 and #8 probably look a little weird due to the lack of shadows (on the cigars in #7 and the sand on the toys in #8 ). More shadows in #4 might help too. |

Re: Test Yourself 1
That's better but the shadow should be darker and softer. It's also lying in the wrong direction. If you look at the lighting of the original scene, the shadows are tight to the hat and the bag. The position indicates the light being above and to the right slightly. ![]() _________________ If you hold on to the past, sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |

Noted David. Thanks. I need to pay closer attention to detail. By the way how did you access the picture to make those notes and changes?? And how do you make dark, soft shadows? _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

Re: Test Yourself 1
I just took a copy of your image. I created a copy of the box on a new layer and cloned the shadows out. In this case I used a soft brush to create the new shadows. This was done on a layer beneath the box and above the background. Set the blend mode to multiply. You can lower the opacity to suit. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

At the risk of sounding Moronic, where did you get a copy of my image to create a copy of the box?? You "took it" from where? _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

Re: Test Yourself 1
Hi Neil, To create a copy of the box, or any other image, just make a selection around it using the method that works best for you with the image in question. In this case I would use the pen tool Since the pen tool creates a path, you would then convert that to a selection, and then with the marquee tool selected, right click on the image, and select copy to new layer. |

David, It is obvious that you copied it from the forum. Maybe I need to rephrase the question. If I wanted to copy YOUR image from the forum how would I go about doing that. (directions please!!) _________________ Yesterday is History Tomorrow is a Mystery So Live for Today One Day At A Time!!! |

Right-click on the image and select Save Image as... (assuming you are using Internet Explorer). _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |
