Separated Windows
Here's how I separated windows to manipulate each one individually.

Make two layers - every other column - fill with contrasting colors.

Do the same with the rows.

Select the Even Columns (hold CTRL key and click on thumbnail).

Subtract the Light Rows (hold CTRL+ALT keys and click on thumbnail).

Make a new layer called DkEven.

Even Columns minus Dark Rows becomes LtEven.

Odd Columns minus Light Rows becomes DkOdd.

Odd Columns minus Dark Rows becomes LtOdd.

All the windows are available and separated, ready to be manipulated.

Re: Separated Windows
Thanks very much Brewell, very helpful. I might have a go since I didn't get a chance at last week's challenge.
