From this magnificent book of Steve, which it's money is more than worthy. This is no commercial, but I think this book should shine on every Photoshop user's bookshelf (and to be read of course). I'm only at page 50/51 of 248 (!) and I've learned allready so much!
I made thinner lines (maybe not a good idea afterwards) and deleted all the white from figure 7 to save it as a png file.

Yes, your version works really well - a very fine hatching effect.

I chose a coarser line so the result would show up well at the size it was printed. When working for print, this is something you really have to bear in mind! But, of course, with scale being no object, a thinner line produces a very good effect.

Thanks Steve. The result looked nice on screen. And as a jpeg. The removing of white makes it kind of moiré-ed. And mostly this 'old-fashened' pictures are to be printed on 'old fashened' white paper I'd think. Here's the jpeg with thin lines.
