Nice shots. I don't know what camera you have, but you should try shot some HDRs, they would look great on this locations. The last one is my favorite ![]() Best Regards Luka |

Thanks Luka. I agree HDR could have solved some problems, but we were in a rush! Winter the sun was going down very quickly!. But we were safe. Mine too ![]() Here is what I mean about the sun going down. This is the moon as we were walking back to join the rest..... not a good quality shot, but can maybe get the idea ![]() Good job the moon was there, but eyes good. ![]() |

It's not too late if you shot raw, oper your raw file in adober camera raw and make 5 (or 3) tiff files from it -2, -1, 0, 1 ,2 (or -2, 0, 2), and then blend them in photomatix. If you shot jpeg, then it's too late ![]() |

Re: After the Rain: Land, Sky and Sea ... meet. Sheeps Head, Atlantic SW Ireland
Thanks Luka. I have the RAW images. I've not tried Photomax, but have used ACR to produce 2~3 different "exposed" images. I used PS with masks for these, to combine to get a more HDR image. I'm sure Photomax could be much faster, or even some of latest extensions in PS. Good suggestion. For these Rain... images, I wanted in general high contrast, chiaroscuro, but while keeping the sky information. Using ACR and the basic adjustments, I could get close. The RAW images are from Canon 40D, 14bits per channel, so did give some scope for pushing quite hard without too much quality loss. For some though, in retrospect as suggested I should have bracketed (x3, without tripod but its quite fast enough). The images of course lost quality when posted for web here at <100Kb! They do look better, in detail, here at home at several Mb of course! ![]() For other images I would surely want HDR, e.g you and others have posted here. I have Thanks again for your comments and suggestions. Trevor |

Hi Trevor, I can highly recommend Photomatix as I use it myself. For the best imaging I use just 3 versions of the RAW file or it can start to look quite dreadful. This applies to any HDR programme. Gordon _________________ Why isn't 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds? |

Yes, Gordon is right, photomatix is the best program for blending different exposures in HDR, it's very simple to use, and you have tutorials all over internet. ![]() |
