The fourth plinth
A few weeks ago we had a Friday Challenge on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square when I posted an image of what was actually intended for it. This afternoon I was privileged to be a guest at the unveiling of the statue of Air Chief Marshall Sir Keith Park who, as AOC 11 Group under Hugh Dowding, conducted and won The Battle of Britain. _________________ If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you ever tried. |

Lovely shot Gordon and great lighting on the plinth. I'm glad we remember these great people in this way. Nick |

A great honour indeed and a lovely shot, Gordon. The plinth, however, does now look a little naked without its safety net. Strange what you get used to seeing. Vern |

I thought you might enjoy this image, Vibeke. Some of his family were present to do the unveiling. Thanks to everyone else for their kind comments, too. As an aside I was standing at one of the barriers when a couple of people asked the security guard what statue was being unveiled. The reply was 'Oh, it's some pilot I believe'! Yes, indeed, some pilot! _________________ If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you ever tried. |

There's something decidedly mummified about that pic! Fond memories of the National Gallery. I must go back there again soon. |

Edited: That's weird. Note National Gallery. If you have chance, see Caravagio. No print can render his art. A new book and study recognises he was not crazy.... just a genius trying to make a living with his art.... |
