Hover Fly
This Hover fly seemed to share my company. I like them. (No PS apart from crop)

Thanks Mark and Becky, that fly never harmed me. (Mosquitos did!!). A fruit fly seemed to arrive to (bit blurred). Guessthey needed some salt/sugar ( I was resting from cycling)

That is a Hover Fly?? Goodness! In the US, we associate that color combination with the Yellow Jacket. Quite a powerful sting they can bring. And if you are allergic in the slightest to the yellow jacket's venom, it's straight to the hospital for you!

I suppose you would get a bit of a laugh sneaking a Hover Fly onto your friendly American tourist...

You can see it does not have a sting, or mouth piece. It just lives off flowers and looks like a wasp to keep the birds away.

I've been stung by wasps. Many times. We sat in their nest. Bees worst, that hurts. Agree, very dangerous wasp and bee venoum.

This fly will not harm you. I have no problem with wasps either.
