My beaches
Hi there Well it's been a while since I posted last so I thought I'd post some of my more recent images. whereas before I was doing a lot of textured HDR work I have since tried to do some landscapes. These are some of them... I have learnt that doing landscapes the images need to be much more precise with invisible processing, something I'm still working on. With textured HDR's it doesn't matter so much. I still dabble in this medium... Your feedback and honest critique is of course welcomed. Scott |

Lovely images Scott. I love the beach house particularly. Great use of wideangle and I love the light and texture. Nick |

Re: My beaches
Many thanks. I've lost my creative mojo lately so positive comments are very welcome. Luka A textured HDR is a normal HDR image (combined 3 exposures fired into Photomatix) with a textured layer added.... see http://www.flickr.com/groups/textures4layers/ The textured layer is placed on top the HDR image in Ps with the Multiply blending mode used, though Overlay can work too. Re: My beaches
Hi James, HDR = High Dynamic Range. Basically it's a technique that allows you to take the best exposed parts of a series of images shot with different exposures and the software then combines them into a single image. The other way of doing it is to take a single shot as a RAW image and then tweak the exposures slightly so that you now have a series of 'differently' exposed images which, again, the software combines into a single image. Some images can look quite over the top but, if done subtly, can produce some absolutely beautiful shots. If you would like to try it yourself then just Google 'Photomatix' to download a trial version. The trial lasts forever but puts a watermark on your image until you get around to paying to have it removed. There are other pieces of software available that do the same job but this is the one that I use.....as does Scott. And Scott.... very nice. Re: My beaches
Gordon is right. Some shots can be stunning and others just look awful. I am open minded about the technique and have tried it on one or two images. Here is a shot of our local church using 3 exposures, normal, +2 and -2 stops. These were processed in Photomatix Pro and then tweaked in Photoshop. Nick |
