scratch disk
I just partitioned an external HD for a PS scratch disk.
I used 5GB of the drive.

1) Is that enough? I hope...
2) Do I leave my Mac HD as the first and use the PS Scratch as the second?

I'm not quite sure how this works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: scratch disk
Yes, a 5Gb scratch disk should be plenty. But in the Preferences dialog, be sure to specify PS Scratch as the primary scratch disk: click the Active box next to its name to make it active, then click the Up arrow to the right (it will light up when more than one scratch disk is activated) to move this scratch disk above Macintosh HD.

I see 'Book1' is listed as another external drive... does this mean the project is going live again?

Re: scratch disk
Thanks Steve.
So, should the Mac HD be checked at all?
I would say yes, in case the PS Scratch disk is full, then it will use the Mac HD after that, Yes?

Yes, the project is back underway. I'm ready to move forward.

BTW Steve, I was looking into CS5 Indesign. It looks like the new interactive features could be useful for my project. Any thoughts on that?
Still debating the upgrade, but the new PS features are pretty nice too!

Thanks again

Re: scratch disk
Exactly - check the Mac HD box, then it will use it if it absolutely has to.

There are some excellent new features in InDesign CS5, although they're more for magazines than book work - all the multi-column stuff, for instance, with the ability both to split text into several columns within a single one, and to span several columns with a single headline.

If it's a question of upgrading InDesign along with the rest of the CS5 suite, then you should certainly do it for Photoshop alone - the upgrade has many fabulous features in it that are really too good to miss!

Re: scratch disk
Thank you Steve. Much appreciated.

Yes, I think CS5 is certainly worth the upgrade for PS alone.

Thanks again
