Macbook
Hi
I'm loving my Mac, and would dearly love to change my laptop too. My present laptop has a 15" screen, but considering price and weight, I have been looking at a 13" Macbook Pro. Will that screen be big enough to do Photoshop work on?
I'm off to Singapore in a few weeks time and they often have some really great sales there.
Suggestions would be welcome.
Vibeke

Re: Macbook
Hi there Vibeke,
well, I have a 15" screen too and sometimes I get really irritated because I feel like it's not big enough "to photoshop"... a 13" screen would be the death of the graphic design... (that's what I think)
Cheers!

Re: Macbook
Hi Vibeke

I use a desktop monitor for all my work with a wide screen. I also have a 15" MacBook Pro which I think is absolutely brilliant. I occasionally use it for PS but not very often.
However, a very good friend of mine and an excellent photographer has a 13" Macbook and he swears by it. He also has a desktop PC with a larger screen but would rather use his 13" Mac book.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Re: Macbook
Carlo is your laptop a MAC?

Thanks Mark, I use my Mac with a big screen for most my work. The laptop is for when I travel. Use it at home in the evenings, when I get bored by the TV, but then it's mainly for emails etc.
When I travel I do like to start processing my photos, have to admit, I often redo the processing when I get home in front of a good screen.
Well it will all come down to cost.

Re: Macbook
sorry, I forgot to say that mine is an HP laptop and not a Mac...
but, as Mark said, I'm thinking to plug an extra monitor to work with photoshop, so I can keep the palette and all the others manus in a monitor and use the other one just for the working area (canvas).
Cheers

Re: Macbook
Hello Vibeke,
We have been looking for a new laptop for my chap. At present he has an old 15" mac (same as mine) and we were presuming we would have o get a new 15". But looking in the Apple store we were both very impressed by the 13". The new screens are fantastic and really don't look that small. And they are £500 cheaper!! My very 1st Apple was a 13" and the new screens do look a lot bigger (must be the surround). So 13" for us, sorry him!

Re: Macbook
Thanks Deborah, that was exactly the kind on information I was hoping for.
Apart from wanting a Macbook, rather than the PC, I am of course hoping for some improvement and a lighter laptop, not that my PC is all that heavy, pretty much the same as a 15inch Macbook.

Re: Macbook
I do all my lectures and presentations using a 13 inch MacBook Pro. Never had any problems with the size of the screen! In fact, never had any problems with it whatsoever. Blazes through Photoshop, even the tricky Repoussé 3D stuff. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Sorry if I misled..I don't use the laptop on my desk. The Wide screen monitor is used with the Mac Pro 8 core. Which initially I had unbelievable problems for three months. Then without a second thought Apple changed it for a brand new machine, which thank goodness is brill.

Re: Macbook
Thanks Steve, that is good news. Now I just have to hope I find some really good deals in Singapore. And that I can afford it.
Have a good weekend everybody.
