Steamy Affair
Apologies for wearing my anorak today, but I really do love these beautiful pieces of history. This is Britannia (70000) one of the BR Standard Class 7 heading north through Wolverton, just north of Milton Keynes this morning. Not everyone's cup of tea and my wife often says 'haven't you already taken a photo of that one before?' Having posted, 'Save For Web' seems to have increased the darker tones, whereas the tones in the original image are balanced. Nick ![]() |

Not just pieces of history, Nick. They are beautiful works of art too. I shall never forget the sight of the sectioned 'Merchant Navy' Class engine at the York Railway Museum. I'm not an anorak but I do love these machines. _________________ My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning, can you believe that 2:30am?! I just vaguely remember being on a steam powered train when I was very very young in UK before they got chopped, looking back out the window and seeing the rest of the carriages snaking behind on the curves and the steam and smoke flowing back. Still like trains to travel on especially when they go fast and |
