Where Am i Going Wrong?
Can somebody tell me where i am going wrong with the ipod tutorial from the 100% Photoshop book. In the book it has a matallic metal type colour effect, mine looks very flat. There is alot of other things wrong with it but i am just trying to get the colour right, just now. Thanks in advance from a newcomer Blindmonkey  |

From the looks from your picture, It looks like you used a hard edge brush when using the burn tool in step 6. Use a soft edge brush. Also make sure you added the Noise filter in step 5 to give it that metallic look. Luis |

Hi Ian, I think Luis is right about the brush hardness, so try using a soft edge brush. Or, if you prefer, you can use the gradient tool (black to transparent), but Steve would certainly use the burn tool. Then I'd add less noise. There are some problems with the basic shape as well. I confess, when I drew my iPod I cheted, and sometimes it's good to cheat, so I suggest you to find an iPod image on the web and use it as reference for the right proportions. I think this is very important to make the iPod realistic. Stefano |

Hi Guys, after taking in your tips from my earlier post, i have spent a lot more time trying to get the ipod right this time, i am alot happier with the result so far, still a bit of work to do on the screen. Would be glad of any comments. Blindmonkey  |

It's looking good. There are some things to think about. 1.) YOu might want to go a little darker using the Burn Tool like I did shown below. This is up to you on how dark you want to go. Just use the opacity settings when you use this tool. 2.) You might want to get rid of the Bevel and Emboss style on the body of the Ipod. 3.) The small circle in the middle looks squished. 4.) The top of the screen has to much of a curve to it. I know that mine is not perfect, I just want you to show you about the Burn Tool on the sides of the IPod.
