Considering that the image could get me thrown in jail in certain towns in the South, "charming" is an adjective I can live with.

Re: Challenge 282: More snow on the way
First to put on the snow shoes this week was Gerard, with an impressive scene - the dog fits well into the snow flurry, I like the sign taped on the door. The snow on the door itself also shows it hasn't been opened for a while - good touch!

A comic, touching story from GKB, whose melting snowman is in some contrast to the sharp version outside. A great warm glow from inside and I like the lit windows - but I have to mention the perspective on the door: the left one seems to be sheared up. Those horizontal lines of studs should point to the horizon, of course.

Excellent work from Roister, with rather beautiful icicles and a fantastic snow drift. I like the maid in the doorway, but there's a small logicstical problem here: she's behind the left door, which is opening inwards, but in front of the right door, which is in front of the left one (as it were). You have some very flexible staff! Neat snowman: the coal needs to be a little more blended into the head, though.

A traditional snowman amid some very fluffy snow (and very pointy icicles) from tooquilos. I love the dancing snowman in the animated version: his melting, and the melting snow, is beautifully achieved.

Great realism from Josephine Harvatt - I take it that's you and Jo Junior (as it were) with the highly artistic snowman? The lit window works well, although the lamp over the door could perhaps do with a little attention! I'd like the second entry more if I didn't get the impression you'd kept your son out in the snow for hours...

A huge snow flurry from LonnieK , and although not much has settled there's still enough to build an impressive snowman. Very small point: the snow is falling from the top right, so the accumulated snow on the window frames should really be on the left.

A miserable looking Gordon Brown from Sophie - is there any other kind? I like the way the skier has paid him off. There's something about his head that doesn't quite fit the hat: perhaps a more straight-on portrait would have helped here. Good to see the snowman in the second entry.

What looks like an impressive piece of work from pjansen960 - but hard to see at this size! Use Photoshop's Save for Web feature to reduce the file size, rather than shrinking the image.

Streaky snow from Jonvee Leo, lying along the pavement and the window sills. The shading here is too straight: shorter strokes, with more curves, would help the overall snow effect. I like the icicles, but let's have a few more of them! Good to see Dr Who and the Dalek showing up in the second entry - but be careful of the perspective. That Tardis needs to be higher than it is.

The figures in brewell's entry add a great human element, and their poses are exactly right for the swirling snow. I really like the way the snow is built up in the windows, and that snowman is most appealing. And a truly magical second entry - amazing piece of work. The glisten and shine is perfect.

A touching scene from katew - I particularly like the face at the window, nicely integrated there. The settled snow on the window sills and other horizontal surfaces looks rather brown in comparison with the rest, though.

A fine flurry from Tom, detailed as ever: I like the way the snow has been cleared from the path in front of the house. The fading caused by the falling snow at the edges is a good touch, focusing attention on the snowman.

A very interesting image from Jota120 - was the original made of snow, or sand? I'd be wary of building such a sculpture so close to the door, though - it does make going in and out something of a struggle. A really intriguing second entry - do people really do this? Why?

Arctic conditions from michael sinclair, with a frozen pedestrian caught in the drift. That's certainly a lot of snow, Michael! Fantastic icicles, by the way. And they certainly become overpowering in the second entry - those hands are great! But look at the angles: there's really no way you could join them onto a body.

A very cheerful snowman from laddition - a great smile! I like the skier coming out of the door, and the snow on the ground. A good cheat on the lit window: who needs all that leaded glass, anyway. Perhaps some snow needed on the window sills? I like all the activity in the second entry, especially the man in the snowman suit! Make the polar bear a bit brighter, and this is excellent.

I like the idea of the Venus de Milo being sculpted out of snow in gaoxiguo's entry - but you do need to make the colour match the colour of the snow on the ground. Interesting how you often like to place outdoor scenes indoors!

A first entry from Emvee - and, we're told, a first entry on any website. It's a good piece of work, with snow accumulating on the window sills and other horizontal surfaces, and a great scarf and hat on the snowman. Those snow flakes are a touch large, though! But I like the blur effect on them. Welcome to the forum, Meenal!

A very festive scene from Jeepy, with last week's champagne bottle bursting forth. A great snowman, and a good amount of snow overall.

A beautiful, stunningly lit image from wideangle, with his first Friday Challenge entry. It's a fantastic scene, with the snow perfectly buit up around the base of the wall. the vintage car adds mystery and intrigue to the scene. I like the footprints, but they're just a touch too well defined: some smudging would help here, and perhaps the sight of a little snow remaining at the bottom of the footprints. I like the second entry, with the falling snow - nicely drawn flakes! And the snowman in the third entry is charming, but watch your shadow angles: the light is behind him, after all.

Snow is, of course, a distant memory for vibeke, but there's a lot of it in her image. There's something very precarious about your snowman: perhaps it needs to be more settled in, rather than balancing on the bottom point of a sphere! Lovely falling snow.

A dog getting its just deserts from james - does it ever recover? Great motion in the running legs. The snowman's head seems to slice off with a remarkably clean cut, though - perhaps a little roughening of the edge needed here?

A huge snowball from Josephine Harvatt - although if I were pushing it, I think I'd be looking where I was going. Is there enough fallen snow to make a construction of this size? I think brightening up the top and right of the snowball would help - it should match the brightness and colour of the snow on the ground, since it's made of the same stuff.

A very stylized, festive scene from China, with graphic snowflakes. I like the way the light from the window illuminates the snow outside, but the house is now so dark we can barely see it: the light over the door should be lighting up some of the house, surely! My solution: load the glow as a selection, and delete this area from the adjustment layer (assuming you used one) that darkens the house.

A nice political point from jwhite - and the polar bear from a couple of weeks back makes a good addition to the scene. Since it's made of ice, though, I'd be inclined to change its colour to match the snow.

A traditional snowman and scene from Emil - very good snow, a few more icicles needed. With the snow building upon the right of the window frames and door, though, the falling snow should be coming from the left, don't you think?

Another good week!

It was very quick work, but I did not realize the point about the direction of snow.

Master Eye, thank you Steve for your comment.

No, that was my snowball and, considering the amount of snow there was around, when it and many others were made, there was enough. And of course after pushing that I was posing for the camera!
