Sure, Wayne, you're welcome to borrow as much as you like. If you don't want to borrow, it's quite easy to make sand yourself. Just get a big rock and put it in the grinder... Seriously, though, it's easy to do. First select two (in my case) yellow shades for foreground/background. Then start a new layer and fill it with the selected color. Next thing is the clouds filter. In my case I had too low contrast so I added a curves adjustment layer to correct that. To achieve the ridges I used Quick Mask to make the selections, blur that slightly while in QM, and then the old dodge and burn along the selections with a soft edge brush. I use an opacity setting around 25% doing that. Invert the selection between using Dodge and Burn to get the shadow effect. Repeat this step as necessary to get as many ridges you like or if you want them at a different angle. On top of the sand layer I added a noise layer to get some grain. Just set the right blend mode for your fill color (black, white or 50% grey) and you should be all set. _________________ Only in my brightest moments I understand myself |

My take. Worked mostly on the shadow, ignoring the glass and other issues. Love the first glasses posted (the ones on the sand).  |

Kept it simple, cos it was quite tricky once I started on it, to be honest I aint sure if it is any good.  _________________ Corners are just bent straight bits. |

great entries this week...lot of different shadows...not sure who is correct...I put a pair of glasses on the table to use as a model. I'm anxious to see what Steve has to say on Friday.  |
