First to tackle the schoolroom this week was DavidMac, moving the desks and bookcase wholesale into a new environment. Perfect perspective matching, and the cleaner adds a much-needed human element. Very neatly done. A touch of shadow on the bottom of her dress would help to distinguish it from the similarly-toned floor. A fine selection of urchins from Josephine Harvatt, who conveniently come with their own desks to save having to move those chairs out of the way. The caps make me think they’re American rather than English, but hey ho. Their attention does seem to be unnaturally focused on the bookcase, though. A ghostly teacher from tooquilos, the replacement lamps and added cornice certainly adding a Victorian flavour to the prefab room. I like the slow track in on the animated version, and the subtle use of motion throughout. David is right, though, those books could do with some shadow - and perhaps some reflections in the shiny desk surfaces? 
A very well-judged background from Frank, who has extended the room to the left and added a seriously strict teacher. I like the relocated Queen Victoria. Very small point: the angle of the bottom of the window should match that of the tops of the desks: 
Plenty of interaction in dwindt's entry, with its unruly kids and surprisingly frilly “teacher”. ` An ingeniously converted space, using the proportions and shape of the original room. The only thing that jars is the naval poster, with text that seems to be at the wrong angle for the wall. Oh, and I don’t think bare brick was a schoolroom fashion in the 19th century! An unusually political entry from Mariner, showing our current/former* (*delete as appropriate) Prime Minister in detention for telling lies. A glorious setting, appropriate for an Etonian. Most impressive. Even michael sinclair is bang on topic this week, with a new set of desks and period-appropriate children fitting perfectly into the room. I like the replacement windows. Fine work, Michael. Vibeke, sorry to hear your family has been stricken with the plague. Hoping for a speedy recovery. |

Thank you Steve. Now how the hang did I miss that writing. Silly mistake. Old S.A. building regulations insisted on government school buildings being brick faced. My school was founded in 1895...the hostel and school were dreary and dark...and shrouded in tradition. Michael, you astound me. The first time I can remember you sticking to brief and I'm pleasantly surprised. Lovely image!!! _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Thank you for all the well wishes, we are on the mend. Granddaughter has recovered and Peter and I feel a little better each day. I even made dinner last night. Peter and Francesca said it was very tasty, I thought it was a little bland. Guess that is the Covid. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
