Frank that is astonishingly convincing. If I didn't know I would never guess it was 'shopped', aside perhaps for the very cold foreground figure. Terrific.

Thanks Michael and David. David I agree - the waiter/butler should have been warmed up a bit - fresh eyes do help.

Fine work from Loyd, Ant, Josephine, Gordon, and Michael (that was a lot of work).

Frank, I think your third entry is spot on now it looks a completely legit photo.

Since Monday night I have had a nasty virus, so this is a brief lull in the storm so to speak; therefore, sadly, I cannot play this week.

One last thing, just to say that I hope your bad back improves soon Steve.

Re: Challenge 925: The dinner party
First to join the table this week was lwc, with a fine dog’s dinner of an entry. I like the subtle head movement, and especially the twinkling candles.

A political point well made by Josephine Harvatt, predicting a miserable winter - well, we’ve certainly got a miserable enough government. Nicely constructed, with a good cast of characters.

It’s the full Peaky Blinders from Ant Snell, with a splendidly arranged scene. The smoky atmosphere really sets it off well, and those plates of roast beef are terrific. Drinking wine rather than whisky, though? But I like the period revolver on the table. Useful tip: a bottle placed head-on to the viewer will always look fake. Turn the label slightly for a more natural appearance:

A high concept idea from DavidMac, with a waiter made of text. It almost works… perhaps if the text was curved to wrap over the contours of his body? The paper people in the second entry are fantastic, and sensitively placed around the table, especially the one with her back to us. Artfully done.

You wait ages for a GKB, and then four turn up at once… a neatly executed piece of work, Gordon, and delighted to see you dressed up specially for it. What would really make this sing, though, would be if there was some interaction between your various selves - even eye contact would help. That’s HotChiPs 101. Oh, and I prefer Ant’s Yorkshires.

An immaculate construction from Frank, with real interaction between all the dinner guests, artfully filled glasses, and some very tasty-looking meals. The bottle on the mantlepiece replacing the lamp is a nice touch. It’s just the colour of the waiter… ah! There he is, fixed in the second entry.

I was wondering who would be the first to deal with the awkward shadow of the candlesticks on the table, and tooquilos has done it by replacing the table entirely. The painting is perhaps a bit over-bright - looks more like a screen - but I like the sentiment here. Ah - in the animated version it is a screen! That explains everything. And I like the changing furniture, and good to see Carson in attendance (although it’s slapdash of him to put the chicken out before he’s laid the table).

A rebuilt room from Mariner, with a very shiny new table and chairs. I like the fact that the table is in the process of being laid, and that fire works well against the wintry scene outside. Can’t help feeling the room would feel a lot warmer with a carpet, though. I like the cake unveiling in the second entry, but once again I must take issue with the over-saturation of your clothing!

Thanks, Steve. Sorry about the over-saturation, it's just my style.

Thanks Steve. I have let Sylvia know about the sub-standard Yorkshires; she says she’ll be in touch😱

Thanks Steve , indeed a lot of work in that one, and with so much going on thanks to David Mac for pointing out my obvious oversight. Normally I like to color grade at the end of such products.

That was of course my intention. It was hard to get enough contrast and difference out of the waiter, especially the black jacket, for the Displace filter to have much effect. I did a little bit of hand work with liquify but started to feel that the end didn't justify the tedious and extensive means. Spelt "T O O L A Z Y".

Glad you liked the second origami one that was great fun to do.
