I have actively participated in this forum for about a year. During that time no one has ever posted anything that was in bad or even questionable taste. "Chicken Jihad" is not just bad taste, but ugly taste and should be removed. We don't need ugly to have fun and to learn from one another. I have personally known victims of suicide bombers. Knowing in advance that there might be some need to apologize is enough reason to not posting the picture in the first place. Show this to the families of victims of last year's London bombings and see how cute they think this is. Marty |

Oh, come on mguyer...it's all in fun. What if a veteran of a war (such as myself) demanded the removal of the entry where the egg is being fired off by a tank? Or what if someone's close relative had died from a brain tumor...should he demand the removal of the entry where it shows the person's head being cracked open like an egg? I don't think so. I could go down the list and probably find something "offensive" to my delicate sensiblities in every entry...but so what? nothing fun about a culture glorifying suicide bombers. Should we start to posting pornography here because the "artist" thinks it is fun? Most of the particpants here are capable (and adept enough at Photoshop) of turning out all sorts of offensive material, however to date in appears that we have avoided that. We have here a posting that makes light of the deaths of hundreds of people. Tell us Photoslopper, how would you feel about this is if you had a son that was killed on that London bus? |

Well, I'm a war veteran myself, having served with the UNIFIL (Lebanon), and seen what such a vest can do to people. I've also seen what rockets, handguns, knives, rocks and you name it can do to a human body. Heck, I've been shot at, stabbed and almost been blown up by roadside bombs myself, when it comes to that... When it comes to bad taste... well, I do have the idea that nothing is bad enough to laugh about, and if you laugh about something bad it will be easier to handle. But I also understand that this is my way to deal with bad stuff, and not the universal way - so, if more people than mguyer and Dave want it removed, I'm not going to oppose it. It is a bad job (photoshop-wise) I agree, it's looking like it does because I tested the new warp-tool for the first time in order to make the picture. _________________ http://funkyjalla.deviantart.com <-- check out some of my work |

I don't really want to start a political debate here, but in my humble opinion, it boils down to this: What comes out of Photoshop is art. Art is there to point a finger at society. Here in Norway, a country not engaged in the vietnam war, we had people attacking anti-war art with axes, because they felt the art ridiculed the brave american soldiers who had fallen... I'm not trying to glorify my art either, but should we cencor everything we feel bad about? Or should we, who are more or less able to create art, try to change the world, one picture a time? My media is humor, your media is something else... _________________ I'll never know if it was worth the pain, but I still loved it more than anything in the world - it was my life... |

What comes out of Photoshop is not automatically art. When I post a picture of a chick with an egg shell on its head, I have shown myself to be more of Photoshop mechanic than an artist. Hopefully at the end of the week Steve will have comments which will help me to be a better mechanic. By becoming a better mechanic, perhaps someday I will create something that I can call art. |

I did not see the image in question before it was withdrawn, so cannot comment on it specifically. In general terms, though, isn't the point of the exercise to have fun while learning to use Photoshop? With this in mind, surely some discretion should be applied before posting anything likely to cause upset or offence to forum members? Perhaps a link to the image with a caution would be a better idea? |

It's my belief that if something comes from your own imagination it can be classed as art, and if it causes a reaction (good or bad) then it has served its purpose. When it can be classed as offensive however I think that discretion is probably the best course of action - just my 2p/cents etc. Anyhow - this is my 'crack' at this - not terribly technical this time - I was after the mood more than anything - don't let it give you nightmares!   _________________ A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts |
