Now that is burnished and cleaned up to almost military standards! I love the view through the window.

A private Gin drinker too. Now whether you approve of that or not is of course a matter of personal perspective.

Thanks David. I used to be in the army, so I am not overly fond of bullshit, and I drink only beer in the evenings. But I can't resist the urge to oversaturate most of my work and this is another example of that.

I think I may have been a little too obscure. The last word of my comment on approval of the Gin bottle is the key one .......

I love it. I think it's possibly one of the best submissions we have seen from you.

Re: Challenge 823: The bishop's box
First to treat the box this week was lwc, with a couple of neat additions. It would be better if the one on the left was aligned with the box rather than facing the camera, though, with the figure vertical:

A fine second entry, although the lighting really should be affecting the box. I like the mouse. I really liked the third entry, with a puzzled Indiana Jones, and… snakes. Why did it have to be snakes.

A magnificent entry from DavidMac, with a tremendous perspective drawer opening. I’m a big fan of both House of Da Vinci games, so this had a special resonance for me. (I assume you’ve played all four of The Room series too.) I particularly like the key to the box. And a great reworking of the perspective on the mitre! An entertaining second entry, very neatly constructed with its built-in stereoscope. No sound on those devices, though, and what we’re really interested in is that the actress said to the bishop. And great to see how you created the perspective for the sliding drawer.

An interesting twist of the lid from tooquilos, which promises some 3D modelling to come… and there it is in theanimated version. The hand is cute - but the way the foot kicks the lid open is splendid. Tremendous work, and great modelling.

More 3D modelling, this time from dwindt, and it’s a very faithful reproduction of the original. Of course, it really comes to life when the stained glass window shines on it in the second entry: beautifully rendered. And I like all the additions in the third entry, full of resonance and meaning. As you say: “wow, that’s deep”.

A fun entry from Ben Mills, with a very well made interior to the box. Now that would be one very scary church.

A beautiful reconstruction from Mariner, with a bejewelled mitre and a perfectly fitting table. The view through the window is a real treat, too, and I like the detail of the refraction through the glass. A couple of minor points on perspective, though. The top of the books needs to be at the same angle as the box, the red book and the corner of the window:

And while I do like the hidden gin bottle, we need to be viewing it from above, rather than head on:

A resonant image from JimH, full of meaning. Very evocative. Add a couple of shadows and it will be perfect:

A terrific week for the Forum, with a magnificent outpouring of creativity.

Ah, yes, thank you, quite right.

Thanks, I didn't think it was that obvious. Not a lot gets past Steve Caplin!

A tricky challenge, Steve, which stretched my brain cell.

To true Mariner. Steve doesn't miss a thing. I thought your image was spot on. Didn't notice the books and bottle. I love the carved trim under the table top. Is that 3d.

Thank you Steve. Well done everyone. Some lovely enteries this week.

Well done JimH. To build on images with so much thought behind them, will take you from strength to strength. Have faith.

These things always jump out at me. Hope you don't mind the nitpicking - I'm aware that I pick up on your images more than those of other Forum members, but that's because your attention to detail is so high that I think it helps to give you the occasional nudge.

Lol...shadows, highlight, surface and form are as big as perspective.

My eldest brother and daughter are like that. "That's the wrong period. It wasn't invented yet". I really appreciate it...in the long run. Short term it may cost many more hours to tweak it into form but it's worth it.

Of course!

I had a lot of fun with this one. Appealed to left and right brain.

You can be very picky sometimes Steve ........ It's doubly frustrating when you are right! You leave me with no alternative but to play the "Artistic License" card.

I agree, thanks Steve.

I was so focused on trying to get the 'Crown of Thornes' inlay/overlay on the box top to look right, that I overlooked that detail.
