Thanks Steve, did have doubts about the ladder shadow, not sure what shear it means??

Shearing means sliding to the side - so turning a rectangle into a parallelogram.

Interestingly, my laptop isn’t wide enough to show the whole image at 100%, and I didn’t realise I was missing the right quarter until I reached the bottom - at which point I was able to scroll right and travel back up the elevator, so seeing the whole scene in reverse.

That was exactly my intention Steve. I started off twice the size I finally posted. That would display perfectly on your iMac but be far too large for most laptops.

I absolutely understand your perspective issues, though, and I think you made the right decision.

It's one of those 'obvious when you see it' problems. But I failed completely to see it coming until I had already done the global perspective and realised it wasn't going to work. One of the trickiest problems was the circular staircase model. It needed to have depth but no real perspective as I couldn't adjust the perspective to be different at each level as this would show. In the end it was modelled with parallel projection so as to have no vanishing points.

I learned a lot from this one. The image is still full of anomalies if you really examine it but somehow they become 'absorbed' in the whole.

But I shan't be trying anything like it again for a while ..............

Thank you Steve. It's interesting that the final reveal shows the structure being a well. That was my initial thought when I started the challenge, hence the bucket on the right hand side. It wasn't quite working out as a well as I had hoped so I changed it to a chest but kept the bucket

Yes, lot's of extra time this week... as you know, gifs do not support partial transparencies. To use an animated gif in my 'other' software for a final animation, it must be optimized from the original mng file. This makes all partial transparencies a solid color, black is the default and usually works okay, but not so much in this case. This caused the obnoxious black fringe around the character in the first two entries.

Thanks Steve, I also preferred the De Gaulle version.

Thank you Steve. Sorry i'm so late in responding. A bad dose of shipping reality.
