I am very curious Michael. Why, with such a meticulously and impeccably executed rebuild, did you not bother to correct the perspective so poor Gordon is not starting to capsize to starboard?

Thank you Gordon, Loyd, and Michael.

David, the time stamp shows it was 05:31 in the morning when I posted my entry. I suppose I was feeling a bit tired and ready for bed. Here is a correction and, I think, an improvement. I have also doubled the resolution so that Gordon's face is a bit clearer, even if it does show up a few more of my imperfections.

Re: Challenge 896: Gordon on the water
First to float Gordon’s boat this week was lwc, with a splendid fish tank: great fish movement, bubbles and wavering boat. All it needs is a slight reflection to give the glass some presence. Some rather splendid waterskiing in the second entry - although I’m not sure how the bridge fits in there. A fun Planet of the Apes reference in the third entry, with its animated sandstorm; and I like the slight wafting of the ape’s hair in the breeze.

A fine pair of characters in dwindt's nicely worked entry - I particularly like the new hole in the bottom of the boat, which has a very convincing thickness to the wood. A truly stunning second entry, with a great story behind it; the boat is utterly convincing in its maritime location. The water edge and lighting really make this come to life.

I like michael sinclair’s fairy godmother, and the way she turns the boat into its renovated version. Well tracked down. The Ukrainian solidarity is topical, but I can’t imagine any boat owner painstakingly painting an outline font on a clinker built hull. Ingenious the way the bridge threads through multiple wrecks in the third entry. Some great rusting hulks there.

At first glance I assumed Frank's mystical fantasy was one of Anna’s – it has the same gothic feel. It is rather beautiful, the gatekeeper at the end of the bridge providing a neat focal point. Great typography in the intro to the animated version, and I really like how the lightning strike illuminates the scene. The rain, smoke, water and cloud effects are all really convincing. And the way the gatekeeper deals with the boat - astonishing! Fabulous work, Frank. Especially the animated skeletal mummy.

It’s gnome from home for DavidMac, who has coped with the multiple perspective issue in matching the two images with remarkable effectiveness. Extending the length of the bridge is a really neat idea. Glorious gnomes, David, but you were clearly fed up when you drew the fishing rod on the far right.

Fire, sparkling lights, a night feel - it must be tooquilos, who bridge leads to a Myst-like warren of raised walkways. An extraordinary way of combining the bridge and boat in the animated version, with a set of beautifully illustrated scenes with moving backgrounds. Perhaps the boat could do with a driver? Splendid.

A somewhat gloomy image from GKB, both thematically and visually. It has the feel of one of your infrared images, and I found it rather sad. That boat needs a better owner.

A funny Bond reference from Josephine Harvatt - but I’m not sure even post production could turn this wreck into a glamorous speedboat. Maybe it’s just getting on a bit, like Caniel Craig?

A great combination of the tricky perspectives from Vibeke; I particularly like the subtlety of the added water either side of the bridge. And good to see the couple from photoshop.london making a guest appearance in there.

A glorious troll from Mariner, perfectly fitting onto the relocated bridge. But I just know you spent most of the time renovating that boat. And there it is, in all its splendour, in the second entry - a remarkably clean vessel, polished to a gleam. I’m a little disturbed by the lack of texture on Gordon’s shirt and trousers, though. Glad to see he’s chosen to wear a bow tie to go fishing in. I’ve been playing spot-the-difference with that and the third entry - I think the main one is losing the river bank, except in the reflection, which is a very good call.

A lot of fun this week. Many thanks, Gordon, for the original imagery.

Very interesting entries everybody.

Thanks Steve. I cheated with the second entry. I modelled and textured the little boat.

Yes losing the bank helps a bit. We can feel we are looking down a bit more.

It's fun trying to really give them things to do and tell a story with such potentially limiting material.

How very perceptive. He was indeed the very last to be added and I was getting a bit 'gnomed out' by then. The rod is exactly how it came with the original but I should have attended to it.

Yes, I was a little disturbed by that as well. I ran out of patience.

In my second entry I added the shadow of the rod tip, and lost the river bank which gave more of an impression of looking down.

I should have offered a better explanation of what I imagined. A great Tsunami wave crashing over a small pacific island, breaking the boat loose from it's mooring and the bridge also being broken loose from it's normal location. The character was simply being carried forward by the wave. The shark was just an attempt for a laugh.

Thanks Steve...!

Thanks Steve - although Craig still has a few years before he tops Rogar Moores record - last seen in the Bond role at 58!
