can't believe you weren't going to enter this weeks challenge Jim... really glad you did.... your pic is one of the best I've seen.... I knew you could do it! excellent job!

Thanks, Dalton! My photo didn't show up the first time because I had to resize it, but when I uploaded the new image to photobucket, I forgot to replace the URL with the new one (after I had deleted the old one). doh!

Wow, daz's is incredible. I guess the next step in my journey of learning photoshop is to figure out how to make effects like he did (old fashioned picture). That's really cool.

I must admit this is the first picture I've created by using masks (per Steve's water instructions in the book). Prior to this, I wasn't quite clear on how to use them, but now I "get it" and I think it's really going to make a difference in the future for me.

Neal that is fantastic you have got the foreground and background perspective to a tee. Excellent work.

Slim that just says it all about how some are good at one thing and others at something else. You said you cant do water and snow yet you've chosen to place yours in glass which I think is really difficult and made a superb job of it. Excellent distortion slim.

Thanks for the comments Chris, its nice to hear some praise for what you have done, thats why i like this place so much, everyone encourages everyone else. Glad to see Paul entered after all and with a really good picture too.

Where is Paul's? I just did a quick scan through the thread and didn't see any follow up post to his first one.

Paul, if you're struggling, I have one thing to say...if I can figure it out, you can to! Something so simple as making masks was confusing to me, but just reading the book and following Steve's instructions made it so clear to me.

Thanks Dalton. I didn't find this one too bad.

Slim I think you are confusing me with Paul 2005 who was the original poster who felt intimidated. She has yet to post her entry and I hope she does. (I am assuming Paul2005 is a woman because of the Avator)

Some great entries these week and I really enjoy the humourous ones! It's interesting to see all the different ideas that can go with one set of instructions.

Just had to have another go at this.

See what happens if you don't fix that dripping tap!

Actually, Paul2005 isn't a woman. He just likes that avatar. Confusing, or what?

Re: Contest 84: Flood the city
Thanks for clarifying Steve. I figured it could have been a girlfriend.

Paul stop your whining and get your post up!! I'm using elements 3 and I'm sure I'll run into some snags along the way but it won't stop me from trying. That's all part of the personal challenge.

I best change that avatar. I used it because she is nicer to look at than me

Anyway here is my attempt. It turns out that the city scape posted by Steve was in fact a 1/200th scale model of London made as a fish tank ornament.

Someone got a bit over enthusiastic with the gravel and you can't see much.

It's not very good, but I find something inherently wrong with the "Friday Challenge". It's posted on a Friday. I only get time on weekends to work on my PC which means I have to get the idea then work on it in a shot time.. A Monday challenge would better suit me. All week to think about it then a whole weekend to work on it

Re: Contest 84: Flood the city
Paul well done and you're still in one peace!

See, all you had to do was think outside the box and you've come up with a great creation.

I tend to take the challenges more literaly and hope that I can get my imagination working in a different direction. I hope you will continue to join the challenges. They are great fun and you learn so much. (oh and sorry for calling you a girl. )

My entry this week. I guess this is the level I'm at right now. To flood all the buildings would ceratinly take me to a higher level.
