Contest 60: Pour me a glass
A bit of a "back to basics" challenge this week. Here's a wine bottle and a glass, both courtesy of PhotoObjects.net. And all I'd like you to do is turn the bottle 90 degrees to pour some more wine into the glass.

Things to think about: how does wine pour and affect the liquid surface? How do you take the top off the bottle? And, most importantly, how do you make the bottle look as if the wine inside is horizontal? I'm setting this one because it's exactly a problem I had to solve yesterday as part of a job.

Feel free to add backgrounds if you like, but you'll find it difficult with that glass! high res is here.

You are so absolutly correct Steve. I had to drink a bottle of wine, then fill it with water so I could "see" what you were talking about. HIC, hic. Later

Nothing like a good glass of wine to finish off a hard day's Photoshoppery and this is nothing like a good glass of wine

Nice Becky. The book and cork add to it. I decided that it needed some color. Maybe art deco??

Haha, this challenge was certainly a toughie especially that tricky little glass that I suspect Steve deliberately slipped in there to test our metal

I used a cascade of layers set to various blending modes, opacities and selective layer masking which I tweaked until they made the glass look approximately right to the background, although if I was to drop a different backdrop in there I would have to re-tweak them all again but I suppose this is about "cheating" in Photoshop so the end product is what we are aiming for rather than how we achieved it

As for the bottle I exported the bottle's half-path to Illustrator "revolved" the path and mapped the labels onto it, so yet another cheat

Steve, you have a lot to answer for my graphical corruption haha

Edit: I've eventually gotten around to exporting the half-path of the glass into Illustrator to change it's perspective.
Sorry to keep messing about with the image, but I'm so fussy.

Here is some help for those that have not yet tried this one. Excuse the makeshift holder.

Haha, well you can't Photoshop an empty wine bottle and you can't keep it half full once it's started on I only wish the local off-license was open around here.

Ouch! My head hurts. It took 3 bottles of wine and 36 hours to create my rendition. Of course, 19 hours or those where spent passed out on the floor.

How do you lot manage to make these? I would like to enter. Or, Steve, give us an easy one next week, like making a car look modified www.maxpower.co.uk will give you a feel as to what i mean by modified, that would be nice. I can kind of do those.
