Challenge 1028: Roebuck to Roaring Meg
I was driving past the town of Stevenage last weekend when I came across this curious road sign. Who or what are Roebuck and Roaring Meg? And why is a police presence required to separate them?

I think we should be told.

Was Mr Caplin alluding to this?

Oh very apt Michael!

Shouldn't the police sign and Trump's be the same direction?

Hopefully I can think of something less dull in the week to come.

I wondered if you would bring up this one. I knew nothing about it until I discovered it while researching for this challenge.

I have to say, as someone who has spent far more time than is healthy in Stevenage Police Station, I don’t recall ever seeing this sign. By the way, before anyone gets the wrong impression, my penultimate work contract was with Cambridge, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Police, so not in a bad boy way! I have, however, spent time in quite a few Cat A & B Prisons around the country.

'BUSTED'! Poor Meg, sometimes a working girl just can't catch a break.

What a strange term... "Roaring Meg". Research has provided rivers, rock bands, canons, beer, and a number of others. Apparently just about anything can be called "Roaring Meg".

Headed for home, but you need to watch out for the signs.

This is not an entry (that would be cheating), but I was a little stuck for ideas, so I asked Chat GPT for an image of Meghan Markle Roaring like a lion, and this is what it came back with!

I made this Saturday while trying to think of something more appropriate, wasn’t going to use it, but then decided that a good moose shouldn’t go to waste.
