Cheers, I'm just a very quick worker ! I'm on holiday this week so a bit of both, a case of the 6 P's really, I'd have been knackered if Steve had set a different challenge though !! All in all, good fun.

You stole my idea for the challenge!

I'm actually going to make an effort with this one... and no.. it's not because there's a prize on offer... really... what? Stop looking at me like that! I'm serious!

Great idea, Glen. Everyone agree with this? I do my write-ups around 9am Friday morning, London time, which gives you guys out on the West coast until midnight on Thursday.

I'd rather have more time. I can't find any of the images I need, so this will take a while.

Because a unified submission stops people using other's ideas. It wouldn't be fair, especially as there are prizes on this one.

Re: Contest 50: The first half century
Of course there is a simple solution to this problem.

I totally agree with Glen 100% and think it's a great idea, it also gets people to think about what they are going to create rather than jumping upon a bandwagon or theme - not that the members of this website do a lot of that as usually they are all very creative and original. But on a personal note I'm a little tired of seeing multiple entries, something I've been guilty of in the past as well. But it would be so much nicer for each person to play around with ideas on their own computer then submit their best image for the challenge.

Back to the solution. One method of preventing direct or indirect copying of a theme is that your submission (singular not plural) is sent via email direct to Steve or David who then post all the entries on the Friday along with Steve's review. That way we get to see all the entries and how each of us have tackled the problem. That for me would be a far better solution to Glen's great idea - plus it gives us something to look forward to, apart from Steve's insightful review. Steve or David might even be persuaded to write an email newsletter to be emailed to the membership, some of whom seem to have gone very quiet of late (me included).

Of course saying all that, there is another side to the Friday Challenge that we should not overlook and that is, it helps us all review our work and make alteration in a process of learning. So as the Friday Challenge seems to be evolv17</ip>

Has it really been that long since boiling an egg and putting the fish in the glass? Another year older, and let still unwise as to create the perfect montage!

Nice challenge though, serves me right for clearing out all the old images I had saved from previous challenges last month. Just had to scroll though all 50 to download the original from each. Not sure how so many landscapes/buildings are going to fit into one montage seamlessly, I think that ALOT of imagination will have to be used!

Surpised that a signed edition of your book Steve, is not the prize?

Oh, I think signed copies of the third edition may well feature at some point…

Re: Contest 50: The first half century
I'm in the same boat as Tabitha. I just finished copying my old files to an external hard drive, when the Firewire interface on my iMac pooped out. It will be a long time before I can afford to fix that. I may be better off getting a new computer.

Now that the G series has ended, since Apple computers will now be made with Intel chips, how will that affect future software updates? Will people have to get new computers if they want to upgrade to CS3 in two years?

Sorry to get off track, are the images for the old Friday Challenges available for downloading? (After Glen's terrific entry, I may not try. I can't compete.)

Re: Contest 50: The first half century
A suggestion.

seeing as this is a bit of a special challenge, how about we all post our solutions to this on Thursday (if they're ready). That way we won't get any "stolen ideas" comments and we can all have a look at once. I know I've posted already but after Steve's suprise find for my lucky day I've been polishing ever since so if you want please disregard my first attempt, I was just being lazy. (I hate polishing anyway)

Looking forward to Thursday - what d'ya think?

(cheers for your comment tweaknik)
